Technology corporations such as Microsoft are now attempting to change the nature of television even further by integrating it with the Internet. A hybrid television-Internet system would result in even greater generalization than exists in both media today. The ability to watch a documentary on whales and link to the San Diego Zoo in the middle of it to see performing dolphins is just a simple example of the freedom such a merger will provide us. Until then, television will continue to resist the content classification placed on it by traditional media, and it will destroy the barriers between categories of knowledge.
