The Future of On-line GamingColby PriceThe future of on-line gaming will be amazing. You will not have to live your life in the tainted society that is the real world. The world would be a virtual Utopia that you command and follow. A new world in which the grass is green, the sky is always blue and the air is fresh and clean. Can you imagine such an environment? A completely virtual world that perfectly depicts a Utopian reality. You are placed in a room that pumps fresh pure oxygen 24 hours a day. The room has a bathroom, clean running water, a bed and all the necessary items needed to survive. In this room is your future life; depending on how long you intend to stay and how much money you would like to spend. What I mean when I say your future life is that there is a virtual reality machine in this room also. This machine is about the size of desktop computer with a treadmill type contraption attached. To play in this virtual world you must wear a helmet that provides you with your sight and hearing. The helmet has a microphone and ear pieces so you may listen to other people in the game as well as the sounds of the environment. People from all over the world may unite in this virtual world as all speech is translated to your default language. For example, if you set your default language to English, all speech that you hear will be translated into English. This helmet it made of space age materials and is extremely light and easy on the neck and back. A VRS (virtually reality stimulation) suit is also worn to accommodate your sense of touch. For example, when you touch a needle in the game you will feel a little prick. The suit is also heated and cooled depending on what type of climate you are experiencing in the game. Food may be eaten in the game and you will be fed intravenously the nutrients in accordance with the food you ate. For example, if you eat a virtual orange, high amounts of vitamin C will be given to you. A user may log out of this virtual world at anytime...like when they feel the need to sleep or relieve themselves. The same rule applies for logging into the virtual world; it may be done at anytime. There are thousands of people connected to this virtual world located in 17 countries. The connection to this virtual world uses top-of-the-line technology to keep it running smooth and clean. People called GM (Game Masters) are appointed to each server to enforce the rules of the game. You are permitted to PK (player kill), but you must have a reason for your killing. For example, if a thief steals something from you while you are walking down the road, you may kill the thief without legal consequence. Killing someone without reason will result in a trial and, if found guilty by a GM, the player is jailed for a period of time determined by the GM. The goal is to RP (role play) your character in the game and live your life in medieval times. You may be an evil, conniving villain, a courageous knight of the King, or even an independent mage. You are born to the virtual world with only two skills of your choice that start at 50 skill points, with a maximum of 100 skill points. The choices of skill vary from blacksmithy to swordsmanship, magery and alchemy. You also begin your virtual life with 45 strength, 10 dexterity and 10 intelligence. In order for your character to do certain things it must have a set amount of statistics. For example, to wear plate metal armor you must have at least 60 strength. Statistics and skills rise by practicing them. For example, to gain strength you can blacksmith and mine for metal. This will also raise your mining and blacksmith skill. The higher your skill in certain things the better chance your character has at accessing special things. Skills raise by the tenths from 0 to 100. At 100 you have then mastered the skill. Statistics raise by 1 every now and again with a maximum stat cap of 550. For example, you may acquire 200 strength, 200 dexterity, and 150 intelligence or any other combination that adds up to 550.
You are placed in medieval times all the way back to the twelfth century. You may battle dragons and mages in the world of King Arthur and the knights of the round table. The excitement has no comparison. A day in your life may involve slaying an evil mage that has double crossed you, or maybe just writing poetry while relaxing in the cool shade of a tree. Women and men alike are welcome to join this utopian virtual world.
