In conclusion, the body is an ideal canvas for self expression. Whether it be in North America where teens are mostly getting tattoos or piercings for self expression or pure enjoyment, or everyday people in India, Polynesia, and Japan who are enduring the pain for traditional or religious purposes. Whatever the reason, tattooing and piercing parlors are growing in numbers everyday all over the world. I myself have gone through the excitement of a tattoo and piercing. I have one tattoo on my lower back and have two piercings, one in my lip and the other in my belly button. I had these adornments done because, like many other North Americans, I wanted to be different and I wanted them for myself. And in no way do I regret what I went through; it was pure enjoyment. And in the years to come, tattooing and piercings are only going to become more popular with society coming to realize that it is not only the "deviants" who are getting these done--it is your average straight A and B students who are experimenting with this new age tradition.
