How to Build a Terrarium
Robert Graham
The key thing to do before starting is to research the pet you are thinking of buying. This will help in determining the living conditions. After determining the living conditions, it’s important that your terrarium be set up correctly. Most amphibians that you can buy at the pet store like similar conditions, so this terrarium should be appropriate for most species. But remember not all amphibians will do well in this setup. Most tree frogs, including Whites, Red-Eyes, Grey, Green, Cuban, Glass and Clown tree frogs will do well in this setup. The way that the aquarium is set up helps in the day-to-day cleanup of your terrarium. Just wipe down the walls and plants; the rest is taken care of by the biological filter that is created.
The first step is get an appropriately-sized aquarium for the species of amphibian. Anything larger than a 10 gallon tank should work for the most part. But make sure you read up on the animal's adult size for whatever species you're considering to make this a home for. Another important item is a lid that will fit the tank. There are many types of lids, including plastic mesh, metal mesh, glass, and plastic hoods with fluorescent light sockets.
