AnthonyAnthony sits and ponders the life he has. He thinks about how the things that have happened to him have all seemed to have a purpose. He ponders what it means to have purpose.
Anthony comes to the peak of Mount Tzouhalem to watch the sun set. He is seldom up early enough to see it rise. If he is, it's because he's been up all night. He started coming up here after a friend of his had brought him up for a picnic. He was stunned by the beauty of the place. He had never thought he could feel so at home in a place that did not have four walls.
He can reconnect with his past here. He can think about where the future will take him. He can think about the world he lives in.
The cross that dominates the peak is a marker. It's a sign that he's made it up the mountain one more time. A sign that others find this place to be somehow sacred. A place to return to some semblance of sanity.
Sometimes he thinks that the earth was created by a madman. But when he comes up here, everything starts to make sense. Everything slows down so that he can actually sort it all out in his mind. The ups and downs, the obstacles on the course he runs.
He is at peace here, with nothing but the wind and the birds to disturb his thoughts.
