The Return by Carlea Gibbs I found myself in the fields of tall grass in which I once lived. Far in the distance a white raven cries, echoing my childhood. I can almost feel the raven song in my throat. The yellow grass touches my thighs and tickles my calves--it has been long since I've done the grass dance and embraced the vivid colours of the yellow orange grass as it touches the blue depths of forever. One breath lets me know how alive I am, a step reminds me of the future, and a turn will tell me of the past. In the radiance of a summer's day I meet my shadow, so blue and cooling compared to the light which is cast upon me. I sing the song of my heart and dance with the light. One foot leaves the ground ready to fly. I once again become my past. The sky fills my view, leaving me breathless with joy and sorrow. I greet the past and let go of the future.
