HEMINGWAY'S PARIS:
WRITERS and BOOKS:
Ezra Pound (1885-1972)

Ezra Pound was born in Hailey, Idaho, to Quaker parents. Another accomplished linguist (like Eliot and Joyce), he went to Europe in 1908 where he began publishing poetry.

Together with F. S. Flint, Richard Aldington, and Hilda Doolittle, Pound founded the school of poetry known as Imagism, which advocated free rhythms, concrete language, and concise use of image and language.

Pound was also an accomplished editor and "talent scout" with an eye for up-and-coming writers. While living in Paris from 1920-1924, he provided invaluable feedback to T. S. Eliot on what the manuscript of The Waste Land, and he encouraged Ernest Hemingway and others as well.
